Celebrating ‘No Mow May’ in Hammersmith and Fulham borough

1–2 minutes

In May 2021, the Hammersmith & Fulham Council celebrated ‘No Mow May’ by letting grass grow wild in the local parks and verges to help create more spaces for bees, plants and insects to thrive.

All residents who have lawns were encouraged to join and make space for plants and insects at home.

GLUE Studio is fortunate to live and work within a London borough that is committed to the improving environment. Our local parks felt calmer and gentler with the daisies and buttercups springing from the grass.

Hammersmith & Fulham is also the first council in the UK to plan glyphosate weedkillers in parks and open spaces to protect bees and butterflies.

The public’s perception about wild plants is slowly changing. We now know that they are great for small wildlife and pollinators.
