The blossoms of spring arrived slightly late this year. But arrive they did, to our delight. The blooms of the cherry, apple and pear trees are as delicate as paper. But their branches are strong.
This juxtaposition of fragility and endurance makes them ideal not just for the natural backdrop, but also as inspiration for our design shop.

On the Coronation weekend in early May, we took a walk with two of our backpacks, Dylan Rose and Yorkminster Rose. Dylan Rose is based on a photograph of a rose in West London. Yorkminster Rose is based on flowers that we grew and drew.
During the walk, we encountered flowers typical of the British countryside and parks: Queen’s Anne’s lace, lilies, bluebells, peonies, rhododendrons, hydrangea and dandelions.

The walk gave us the opportunity to contemplate on nature, the cycle of life and to be grateful for what we have. Like the cherry, pear and apple trees that we encountered recently, we must endure the cold days of winter – the minimum chilling days – in order to enjoy the beautiful blossoms of May, and the fruits of summer. We hope our designs remind you of this joy of nature.

Spring also reminds us of the poem by William Blake, first published in Songs Of Innocence and Experience in 1789:
William Blake, Spring
Sound the flute!
Now it’s mute!
Bird’s delight,
Day and night,
Nightingale,
In the dale,
Lark in sky,—
Merrily,
Merrily merrily, to welcome in the year…
